My earlier work experience was based in the medical field. I worked in a Physician's Family Practice for 3 years, during this time I was promoted to the Front Supervisor. It was at this junction, that I was approached and sought after for employment by the owner of then Complete Homecare, our medical equipment supplier. I worked here for 3 years as the Mastectomy and Orthotic fitter after receiving my credentials from O & P Education.
In 2018 I transitioned to a more hands on person centered service , where I served as a Direct Support Professional for 2 years. My ability to work in fast paced, high stress environments with teams as well an independent level has given me the experience and versatility to succeed in most work capacities.
I worked with individuals with a range of developmental disabilities. Ultimate goal is to assure that these individuals have the best quality of life. Responsibilities included, but not limited to assisting these individuals with decision making and becoming productive inside their homes and respective communities. Quickly responding to crisis situations when severe mental health and behavioral issues arose. Developed and maintained individual service plans. Managed individual as well as residential finances.
My main responsibility in this position was to fit patients who needed external breast prostheses and provide other post-mastectomy products and services. You then design treatment plans based on your findings and in consultation with other healthcare professionals.
