Mica Walter Rooks

All experience takes place in 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade art classes under Ms. Le Tran.

I am, and will be:

• Gradually taking on instruction during class periods to build up to a full teaching schedule.
• Gradually taking on all teacher responsibilities, including communication with parents, administration, grading, and lesson planning.
• Attending a weekly university seminar on effective student-teaching, and teaching, practices and knowledge.
• Working with a mentor, field supervisor, and professor to gain feedback and adjust my student teaching practices accordingly.

All experience took place in Pre-K through 8th grade art under Ms. Heidi Mitchell or in 6th grade ELA under Ms. Colleen Labeau.

• Assisted in managing classroom behavior and fostering a positive learning environment.
• Collaborated with the lead teacher to plan and implement lesson plans.
• Tailored instruction and individual teaching to a wide range of student needs.

• Observed and assisted in an elementary art classroom for a 30-hour placement under Ms. Rebecca Guyette.
• Attended staff meetings.
• Instructed students individually and in groups.

• Assisted students individually or in groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Aided in the maintenance of a university ceramics studio, including, but not limited to, clay reclamation, glaze mixing, and running kilns.

• Provided individualized and group instruction for students as a substitute para-pro and as a substitute teacher in the art studio.
