- On 03/29/23 I purchased a 2003 Toyota Camry. I initially bought the car for $10,476.10. Buying a car really helped my situation by getting me to work and providing the needs for my children. I was elated to be able to not have to depend on a $60 a day uber ride to take my children back and forth to school and me to work on occasion. On 03/31/23 I was sleep at my brother Jonathan (JB) Barkers’ residence. I was ppppwoke to a phone call from my brother JB between 5 & 6am from him being in an accident in my vehicle. To my surprise my brother stole and totaled my car. He not only wrecked my car he totaled the car. My brother is a known alcoholic with no license, that is why I would never let him use my vehicle. I only had this car for 2 days and now I am back to square one paying for a car that I not only got to enjoy but to get me to the places that I needed to go. His explanation was that he was coming from a strip club and a Mexican man was driving a grey Expedition ran a light, hit him and spun him around 3x and ran from the scene. My brother had no regard for the fact I specifically bought this vehicle to get to work. His girlfriend LaKeitha Henderson was also in the vehicle and was sending pictures to her friends of the vehicle stating that JB (my brother) had just totaled the car. JB has been avoiding me and telling friends and family that he will not be giving me anything for wrecking my vehicle. Upon speaking to my insurance company and analyzing the car there was no way possible that someone hit my car and ran. I believe and along with the insurance company that this was a one car accident. The car was beyond repair, and I didn’t even get to drive it but for the 2 days that I had it. Since this occurrence has happened, I have lost my job due to lack of transportation. I had been at my place of employment for over a year and things were looking up and then this happened. This has truly messed with my mental state because now I not only am unemployed and have no money to take care of me nor my children.
- Jonathan (JB) Barker needs to be accountable for his actions therefore I am seeking and demanding payment for my vehicle in the amount of $10,476.10, court costs, any punitive damages that are associated with the vehicle (pain and suffering and lost wages). I am also demanding that my brother be incarcerated for his actions as he needs to be taught that he cannot take something from someone that is not his whether it be a family member or not.
