Responsibilities Include:
-Active Hydrogen testing using a mercury manometer
-Chemical Reactivity testing on various materials with H.E. using Varian and Agilent gas chromatographs
-Assay and purity testing of various materials using Agilent Technologies Gas Chromatograph
-Performing analysis of various materials using Thermo Scientific Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
-ESD testing using PRAS 801-Resistance analyzer
-Fluoride analysis using Mettler Toledo pH/Ion meter
-Water content analysis using Mettle Toledo volumetric KF titrater
-Nonvol and Volitile content testing on various materials
-Titrations of various materials including Isocyanate content analysis, Hydroxyl number, Acidity, Assay, Amine value, Aqueous and non-aqueous titrations using potentriamtric and colorimetric endpoints, Epoxy equivalant analysis using Mettler automatic titrater -
Specific Gravity/Density testing using Hydrometer, Pycnometer, & Hydrostatic methods
-Taking pressure measurements of high pressure gas cylinders to meet safety requirements
-Dewpoint analysis of high pressure gas cylinders using RH Systems chilled mirror hygrometer
-Inspections for hydrostatic fill dates and pressure testing dates to ensure all requirements are current
-Other duties include disposing of hazardous waste properly and HE inventories
-Building Joint Test Assemblies which included:
-mixing and testing various chemicals involved in the build process in a lab type environment
-mixing, de-aerating, and bonding of a variety of adhesives
-taking samples on glue blocks and plates and testing torsion shear strength of samples after a designated cure time
-mixing and taking samples of various materials and taking readings on durometers after cure times
-mixing, bonding, and taking samples in test trays and then testing for hardness using a Barber-Coleman impressor
-Other responsibilities include: precise measuring to tight tolerances including stacking and bonding parts using shim stock, double backed tape, and adhesives to reach exact heights and thicknesses, housekeeping practices to keep the work environment sanitary and free from contamination as a lab type environment.
