  • My duties vary daily, as I act in a Crew Chief capacity frequently, but I perform as a Driver Operator for Structural and ARFF, or a driver operator of a multi-million dollar fleet of emergency response vehicles at multiple locations. I predetermine my route or select an alternate when necessary. I correctly position my apparatus while taking into account many factors that include wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of possible armament on aircraft, strategy of available response vehicles, offensive or defensive tactics, and policy. I calculate hydraulics, the desired pump discharge pressure, flow capabilities while considering my pump capabilities. I respond safely and efficiently to airfield, aircraft, vehicle fires, structural, wild-land, medical, confined space and hazardous materials incidents. I perform hazard and risk assessment and conduct complete incident analysis. As an ARFF Driver Operator, I perform crash-rescue and firefighting after I maneuver my vehicle to keep the fire in optimum range while ensuring proper AFTO 88 setup. I perform work at airfields handling fighter, bombers, cargo and passenger aircraft carrying large volumes of fuel, conventional and sometime nuclear weapons, or highly flammable or explosive cargo. I perform standby duty during aircraft refueling and defueling, engine maintenance and testing, welding and burning on fueled and armed aircraft, ammunition handling or other special circumstances. As a Hazardous Materials Technician, it was my duty to not only identify the specific materials involved, predict the behavior of a material, develop and appropriate strategy and coordinate a response, and to perform aggressive strategies and tactic to isolate the release while protecting the lives and property during any CBRNE and WMD incidents. As an EMT I provide pre-hospital care to patients during medical or trauma incidents while assisting my Paramedics with any procedures in my scope of practice. I determine life threatening priorities, alleviate further injury to the patient, perform base line and ongoing vitals, and stabilize the patient through direct method and package for transport to the on base level two trauma medical facility. I created pre-incident plans, inspected fire suppression systems, and inspected new development structures to determine if they meet building and life safety codes.
