Tony’s Pizza Service
12.1996 - 02.2000
  • I was a wholesale route manager with many responsibilities as our company was headquartered in Seattle
  • I worked mostly unsupervised, doing everything myself which included: setting promotions with my independent stores, setting ad copy, doing freezer resets to maximize profits, scheduling product demos, ordering the correct product, scheduling truck maintenance, etc
  • With almost no training, my route sales were nearly a million dollars my first year (which was a new record for the route) and by year three my annual sales were over two million dollars

Retail Auto Parts Key Man / Counter Clerk

Knecht’s Auto Parts
08.1995 - 12.1996
  • I was the right hand man and was in charge of everything the manager didn’t have time to do: scheduling lunches, calling in special orders, assembling and ordering hydraulic hose and fittings, ordering a vast assortment of fasteners, occasionally closing the store or key person when the manager was off premises
  • With years of management experience, I could do anything that needed to be done

Retail Auto Parts Store Manager

Knecht’s
04.1990 - 08.1995
  • I was sent over from the Highway 99 store to increase sales, clean the place up and get it organized
  • Our gross sales nearly tripled and customer count more than doubled in the same period
  • By my second year, I was consistently in the top five in gross sales and profit out of 17 stores with the smallest square footage in the company

Retail Auto Parts Store Manager

Knecht’s
03.1985 - 04.1990
  • The number one reason I was sent to this location was to increase sales
  • Besides the normal managerial tasks, I also scheduled a daily delivery truck for the stores in the Eugene/Springfield area
  • My previous warehouse management experience really helped with this
  • Gross sales and customer count both nearly doubled during this time

Warehouse Manager

KAPCO United Wholesalers
05.1984 - 03.1985
  • Company Overview: (Knecht’s Auto Parts Company warehouse)
  • My responsibilities were typical for any high volume, 58,000 sq/ft warehouse: making sure the customers got what they needed, when they needed it; inventory organization; working with manufacturers and freight companies to keep orders flowing; damage claims/shrink control; loading and unloading trucks; etc
  • I was responsible for developing and implementing new picking and shipping procedures to streamline production and make the warehouse more efficient
  • Many of the procedures I developed back in 1983-84 were still being used up until 2019 when they closed the warehouse
  • Mentally and physically demanding work, but fun and rewarding
  • (Knecht’s Auto Parts Company warehouse)

Retail Auto Parts Clerk / Assistant Manager

Knecht’s Auto Parts
01.1982 - 05.1984
  • This was the largest store in the Knecht’s chain
  • I worked my way from sweeping floors to assistant manager in less than a year and a half
  • In addition to selling and ordering parts, hardware and fasteners, I learned how to assemble hydraulic hoses, order hydraulic hose and fittings, sold over-the-road truck parts, welding gas, welding supplies as well as performed outside sales to trucking and logging companies
