Volunteer Experience

  • Cottage Health, I am currently working as a volunteer at the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, where my role is to oversee visitors and guide them to their appropriate rooms in the clinic. This is a rewarding and effortful experience because I am talking with the people as they enter the building and guide them to where they need to go in order to see their loved ones.
  • A2F Volunteering, For the past several months I have been involved in a local church group known as Acts to Fellowship; here, I have taken part in elderly care and demonstrated my ability to meaningfully take part in teamwork and group activities in a care setting where I was able to speak to people with different backgrounds and beliefs from me.
  • Food bank, SciTrek and other miscellaneous; other causes I have given my time towards include working at a local food bank in my hometown and volunteering with young children, at street cleanups, in the local public library in my hometown, at a climbing gym, at a photoshoot event in a church, and at a martial arts studio. These experiences have helped teach me valuable lessons about the power of helping others and self-fulfillment.
  • Worldhealer internship, Recently, I began an internship in a non-profit organization which aims to do fundraising to collect money for people in need. It is a weekly time-commitment which involves training and completing projects, and learning about important aspects of fundraising which will be useful in my future. I have been taught some of the basics of creating an elevator speech, and developed a plan alongside more experienced members on how to raise money for the organization.
