Since I was 16 I have worked mostly in or adjacent to the medical field. From serving patients at Country meadows and fostering relationships and spending extra time with them, I gained a new perspective and appreciation for the wisdom and lived history they shared. I loved my time at golden living as well, although the population was more advanced in their average stage of alzheimers. I still served them and tried to bond with them.
At the medical bureau i learned how to communicate with providers, giving them only the needed information. I also gained knowledge in office dynamics.
Landscaping is something that was always there for me. It was hard labor but i always enjoyed it. Provided me structure and a general knowledge of landscaping.
I have worked with my brother-in-law since i was 14. Sometimes full time and part time and even prn. I've done everything from planting, mowing, french drain, tree planting and removal, trimming, everything.
I worked at the location on state street, they have since moved. I was a telephone operator, I took messages for doctor's offices to plumbing. When the office signed out, faxing messages to office, contacting and speaking to on call providers.
I was mainly assigned to the dining room. I would help patients eat, I would record intakes, I would also help to serve the food to the patients. I would then help clean up. There were a hall of patients I would assist with some ADLs in the evening.
I would come in at 4 and set up the dining room tables. I would make sure all place settings were set and appropriate restrictions set for the patients. I would then serve the food, go around and fill drinks, take plates away. Just being a server. I would then clean up and do the dishes. I would also sometimes stay later after i clocked out and play wii with some of the patients, or even pool.
