Work History

Field Service Representative

West Virginia American Water
03.2018 - Current

Currently work as a Field Service Representative for West Virginia American Water. My responsibilities and job duties include: Always prioritize safety above all else. Follow PSC guidelines. Read water meters. If reading device is not transmitting read, install new reading device. Change water meters if meter is busted and causing meter to leak, or if meter has reached its allotted amount of gallons passed through meter. Maintain a positive relationship with customers, as we deal with customers and the community on a daily basis. Check pressure for customers if they are experiencing unusually low or high water pressure. Check for any leaks at meter if requested by a customer and determine if leak is on their service line or on our end. Being able to drive to multiple locations in the area I was working. Work in all types of different environments in all elements of weather.

I also worked as a laborer/equipment operator in our Distribution Department. When doing laborer work my job duties were to make sure crew truck had all tools needed for the job we were performing that day. Also, make sure we had correct pipe size for any main line we were working on that day. The laborer was to get in the hole after being dug out by operator, locate leak on main line or service line and either clamp or sleeve in new main or service line. As a Equipment Operator I was to get with Crew Lead to determine location of leak to start digging out where it was suspected to be. Work with laborer to locate line while digging always practicing safe work protocol as our lines could potentially be right beside other utilities such as: gas, sewer, electric and internet lines. After completing repair on a line it is the operators responsibility to back fill and redress area that was worked on.

I also worked as a Crew Lead running contractors on jobs to repair service or main line leaks. As a Crew Lead it was my job to locate where our water mains were located. Before starting job as Crew Lead it was my responsibility to go through my job safety check list in our Map Call system to make sure all safety requirements were being met prior to starting the job. Also, making sure 811 had been notified prior to our dig, to know where other utilities are located in our work zone. As a Crew lead it was my responsibility to determine what course of action would be needed to repair leak, as well as determine what hydrants would need to be shut down to be able to perform our job safely and efficiently.

I also worked in the Administration office at the beginning of my career with WVAW. I ran operational reports throughout the company for the entire state of WV through our SAP system. I entered accounting payroll for employees in our Salt Rock service area. Maintained our fleet and all DOT regulations, making sure all vehicles were up to date with their insurance and registration. I handled receiving with inventory and all information on all packing slips for inventory received.
