Michael Markiewicz, born in 1986 and raised in Staten Island, New York, is a true survivor and visionary leader. At the age of 16, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, undergoing two surgeries with a 96% chance of no recurrence—only for it to return to his right lung. Starting chemotherapy on his 17th birthday, Michael battled the disease for a year, including an additional surgery, before being declared cancer-free. This life-altering experience instilled in him a profound sense of purpose, vowing to seize his second chance and never take life for granted.
Driven by a passion for entertainment, Michael immersed himself in the industry, drawing inspiration from legends like Charlie Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart, and business icons such as Jack L. Warner and Walt Disney. Beginning as an extra to learn the intricacies of film and television production, one of his first roles was a small part in Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds. He submitted for student and independent films via Backstage and Craigslist, collaborating with NYU and New York Film Academy students to gain hands-on knowledge. Under the tutelage of renowned acting coach Penny Templeton in Manhattan, Michael made his producing debut on the feature film The Reunion, starring The Sopranos actor Joseph Gannascoli. Scouted by Wilhelmina Models, one of the world’s top agencies, he landed a leading role as Joseph Caruso in Joe’s War alongside Armand Assante, Ed Asner, and Tom Sizemore. He starred in the TV Land series Forever Young, produced by Ashton Kutcher, and guest-starred on NBC’s The Blacklist as Lonnie Perkins, Netflix’s Jessica Jones as Ken, STARZ’s Power as Arnost, and NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime as Deacon. Additionally, he featured in the Mastercard Stand Up To Cancer campaign, airing nationally and internationally. Michael has blended his creative talents with entrepreneurial savvy.
Eager to expand beyond entertainment, Michael drew inspiration from the achievements of industrial titans like Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, and families such as the Vanderbilts and Rothschilds. Inspired by his cousin and advisor, Jorge O. Mariscal—CIO of Emerging Markets for UBS Wealth Management—he entered the finance and business sectors. As a Production Executive at Unified Pictures since 2021, Michael secures capital for film productions, forges strategic partnerships in finance and entertainment, and innovates marketing strategies to reach broader audiences.
His entrepreneurial ventures include founding President Street Capital, LLC (2017–2020), offering personalized guidance for exponential company growth and investor introductions. He served as Principal at Gravitas Global Advisors (2017–2020), an SEC-registered firm managing innovative investment funds. Michael advised biopharmaceutical companies, including 9 Meters Biopharma Inc. (formerly Innovate Biopharmaceuticals, 2017–2020), focusing on unmet needs in gastrointestinal and autoimmune diseases, and Humanigen (2017–2018), developing immunology portfolios. He also advised CallingVault (2017–2020), a pioneer in secure cellular communications technology. Earlier, as Sales Executive at InterGlobe Communications (2010–2012), he drove client acquisition in telecommunications.
Holding Health and Life Insurance Licenses in New York and New Jersey since 2018, Michael works as an agent for National Life Group, selling products, advising clients, and building networks. He has consulted across finance, technology, entertainment, and energy industries.
A disciplined multitasker and imagineer, Michael synergistically blends creativity with business acumen.
