Additional Information

Prior to my employment with the Fort Pierce Department, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry rifleman. During my enlistment, I was promoted to the rank of corporal (E-4) and assigned as a fire team leader. I learned how to manage/lead Marines on and off the battlefield. During my tour of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I utilized these skills and was able to bring all the Marines in my charge home safely. Since being employed while Fort Pierce Police Department, I have used the skills that I acquired in the Marine Corps and improved upon them. In my 17 years of service to the City of Fort Pierce, I have been chosen to be a Field Training Officer. While performing these duties I often mentor and train new officers. Often times I have spoken with members of the community about their concerns with both the call for service and an officer's actions on the scene. Often times I am able to solve the problems/complaints before these complaints reach the next level. I teach these officers policy and procedure and often guide these officers through the first 3 months of their careers. I have also taken on the role of Detective for 4 years. I learned how to better conduct investigations, preservation of evidence, and Interview suspect and Witnesses. I have returned to my role as Field Training Officer and teach the Officer in training most of the skills I have learned.
