Work History

Senior Avionics Engineer

Millennium Space Systems
El Segundo , CA
2023.06 - Current
  • Analyzed system requirements and designed solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Prepared reports detailing the results of tests conducted on different components of a satellites avionics systems.
  • Documented all work performed on a satellites avionics systems according to company standards.
  • Designed PCBs for Class 3 space avionics applications using Altium
  • Performed schematic capture, PCB layout and full board bring up including, but not limited to, FPGA/MCU flashing, board checkout (utilizing typical EE lab equipment)
  • Worked with reliability engineers to upscreen COTs parts for space applications
  • Designed high level HDL as well as board design on a space grade SSD for a next generation mission processor.

Lead Avionics and RF Enginner

Millennium Space Systems
El Segundo , CA
2021.06 - 2023.06
  • Design a test rack to qualify an X-Band Sofware Defined Radio
  • Designed analog RF front end through up/down conversion and filtering to ADC input and digital baseband processing for x band SDR testing.
  • Built up a 5.4 meter antenna with a trailer and old HW from the early 2000s in company parking lot in order to perform mission (x band) and telemetry (s band) downlinks of our Low Earth Orbit Satellites.
  • Designed and built a mobile ground station implementing a SATRAC SDR, a FEP and an in-house designed (my design) x band downconverter. The mobile ground station was then used to prove out a capstone project involving a Low Earth Orbit Constellation.
  • Created link budgets for S, X, Ka and L band applicaitons
  • Modeled RF systems in MAtlab and GNUradio

Avionics Engineer "Product Owner"

Millennium Space Systems
El Segundo , CA
2019.07 - 2021.06
  • Managed 4 core avionics boards from internal customer order through test and delivery
  • Qualified core avionics hardware through vigorous envirmonental testing campaigns.
  • Wrote test plans for qualification campaigns, including environmental and functional testing.
  • Analyzed failures and investigated root cause
  • Brought boards from a one off state to a production state
