Hydraulic Technician

I am directly responsible for the repair, inspection and testing of more than 340 maintenance actions on E-2C-2, H-53, H-60 and H-46 hydraulic and pneumatic components resulting in an astonishing zero re-work percentage. Further, my efforts at FRCMA led to a 92% Ready-For-Issue rate and a 30% increase in productivity.
Successfully trained and qualified three hydraulic contamination technicians which resulted in the ability to maintain 100% readiness in support of 18 tenant squadrons.
Proved to be highly resourceful in the implementation of a hydraulic pump and MRH damper force velocity test stand which allowed the 520 branch to increase capability and a cost saving of $3.2 million annually.
Responsibility also includes the inspection and maintenance of aircraft fuselages, wings, fixed and movable surfaces, airfoils, empennages, seats, wheels, tires, controls and mechanisms. Additionally, my responsibilities also include the installation and rigging of flight controls, fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metal panels as well as make repairs to aircraft skin; install rivets and metal fasteners; assemble and repairs wheels and tires performs dye penetrant inspections; performs daily pre-flight, post-flight, and other periodic aircraft inspections; maintains hydraulic systems, including main and auxiliary power systems unit and acting subsystems landing gear, brakes, and related pneumatic systems; inspect, remove, and replace components of hydraulic systems
Required to use schematic diagrams, drawings, and charts to prepare layout patterns and templates for metal work. Also required to fabricate, fit and test rigid and flexible hose assemblies. I possess a strong familiarity with technical publications as well as detecting and assisting with the correction prevention of corrosion; remove and install check valves, relief valves, sequence valves, restrictors, actuating cylinders, and emergency air bottles; identify type and designation of fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, and lubricants used in aircraft; operate ground support equipment; build hydraulic systems; adjust brakes and replace lining and pucks; replace gaskets, packing, and wipers in hydraulic components.
Airframes Collateral Duty Inspector & Flight Line Coordinator

As a night-shift supervisor, I successfully produced exceptional results of complex tasking by Maintenance Control and ensured exacting standards of quality requiring a zero re-work percentage. My efforts resulted in Airframes completing 12 special inspections, 12 phase inspections, four 364-day inspections, three 546-day inspections, and 739 unscheduled maintenance actions. My contributions allowed HSC-28 to fly 512 mishap-free flight hours with a 97% readiness rate.
As a CDQAR and ranked as the “Top Technician”, I was instrumental in the completion of 12 phase inspections, 202 special inspections and 81 daily inspections. Also, while deployed onboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD-3), my invaluable skills contributed to the detachment’s 97% completion rate.
My exceptional leadership skills proved to be invaluable while actively spearheading the qualification of eight Collateral Duty Inspector’s and 36 Support Equipment Licenses. Additionally, as the Work Center Career Counselor, I played a direct role in the advancement and retention of five sailors as my involvement fostered a positive winning attitude within the division.
Proved to be an outstanding Airframes Collateral Duty Inspector as I corrected more than 400 downing discrepancies and performed more than 160 special inspections. My hard work and dedication enable the squadron to fly over 830 hours, 665 combat sorties, and transport more than 450,000 lbs of cargo and 7,000 troops in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Airframes Crew Leader & Day Shift Supervisor

As I was hand-picked to be the Airframes Crew leader, I led nine personnel in the safe, on-time completion of a complex aircraft disassembly in preparation for the command’s first C-5 transport of an MH-53E aircraft to support the command’s homeport change from NAS Sigonella, Sicily to Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.
Quickly attained my qualification as 120 CDI. My expertise afforded me the opportunity to train and qualify three subordinates in Hydraulic Contamination, Tire and Wheel, and over 15 various forms of support equipment. My exemplary leadership skills afforded me the opportunity to be hand-picked as an Airframes Technician for a cross-country flight from Norfolk, VA to El Centro, CA.
As Day-Shift Supervisor, I directed two DCB changes, four phase inspections, three 28-day inspections, and the completion of ballistic flooring modifications on eight aircraft. My actions critical to the preparation of the U.S. Navy’s first NVD (Night Vision Device) capable MH-53E detachment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Successfully dedicated more than 220 off-duty hours, and hallmarked my devotion toward the command and work center goals during aircraft 107’s side number re-assignment as 100 with little to no supervision.
My “can do” attitude directly reflected on the squadron as I was awarded the Battle “E” and the CNO SAR EXCELLENCE” awards.
