My current job shares many of the same responsibilities as my job at Jaflo had. Complete our work in a timely manner while making safety our priority. I make a work plan based on the weekly and monthly goals put in place by the utility. I'm on call 24/7 to provide crews for storm restorations when there is forestry work needed to restore power.
My supervisor from Davey Tree went to Jaflo Tree and when he went he asked me to come with him and take a General Foreman position. My responsibilities with this job were to have an open line of communication with the forester and work with him and my work planner to make sure the job that my crews were doing was satisfactory. Ensuring the work was completed in a timely manner was a priority my main goal in this position was to make sure all crew members preformed their tasks in a safe manner. I learned the companies safety policies and made sure the guys were aware aswell and followed the company's guidelines.
I started with Davey Tree as a Groundhand, my responsibilities included work site set up, flagging, clean up, and helping wherever I could. I was then promoted to a trimmer. My responsibilities included those listed above and actual trimming of the trees from the bucket and doing the qork manually. I was then promoted to work planner. I would notify homeowners of the work to be done on their property to satisfy the specifications laid out by the utility company. I would document property owner concerns and add all the information into excel so I could print and pass the instructions of every property out to the crews. My goal in this position was to relay instructions of the work to be done on the property in a simple manner so that every member of the crew would understand the work to be done.
