
I am a well rounded and hard working individual. I have been in law enforcement since I was 19 years old. I stay physically fit by working out multiple times a week and keep my cardio up by jiu jitsu training. I hold my integrity to the highest standard. I strive to go above and beyond with every task that is given to me. I strive to be a employee that other employees can come to and ask questions. I have been on two tactical teams during my career in corrections and also a training officer for new officers. I maintain professionalism to the highest standard and always learn new things that will benefit me in my career and also to keep myself and my colleagues safe. I am comfortable in being in high stress situations and remaining calm under the situation to do what needs to get done in a timely and safe manner.
• Patrolling the outer prison complex to rapidly respond to electric fence discrepancies.
• Conduct searches in the outer prison perimeter for footprints to prevent inmate escapes and prevent drug smuggling from the public.
• Member of the Disturbance Control Team (DCT)- A tactical team of the prison to respond to situations that regular officers do not have training for that consist of high risk shake down of units, riots, Building clearing with non lethal weapons, tactical formations, conducting high risk security when activated.
• Conducts search of visitor’s vehicles and belongings to prevent the illegal smuggling of contraband, including drugs and/or illegal substances, weapons and communications devices.
• Provides supervision, care and correctional treatment of inmates.
• Concerned with maintenance of institution security contributing to the health and welfare of the inmates and the promotion of good public relations.
• Enforces rules and regulations governing facility security, inmate accountability and inmate conduct to ensure judicial sanctions are carried out and inmates remain in custody.
• Authorized to carry firearms and to use physical force, including deadly force, to maintain control of inmates.
• Experience with assignments made to those areas requiring the maximum skill and expertise in dealing with inmates, the public, and the security of the institution.
• Supervising and instructing inmates regarding proper sanitation, personal hygiene and work habits.

• Operates a variety of audio and visual equipment to disseminate information to the public.
• Monitors radio transmissions between staff in order to immediately respond to emergencies and relay of information.
• Comply with and enforce security procedures for keys, equipment and institution supplies.
• Operates control center room to monitor security gates cameras, alarms, video terminals and operation control panels.
• Enforces institutional policies and standard operations procedures and report infractions, orally or written.
• Receives inmates into custody, conduct searches to avoid the smuggle of drugs and other contraband. Make initial assessments of inmates for health for safety and security reasons.
• Utilizes the appropriate level of force when responding to an emergency ranging from verbal warnings, physical presence, OC spray and the application of soft and hard restraints, and in extreme cases deadly force.
• Prepares, process, analyzes and manages documentation using a computer and paper methods.
• Observes prisoners directly through visual, audio and video monitoring. Monitors for unusual behavior or activities, responds to obvious and subtle changes in inmates’ conversation that might be inappropriate or indicate the potential for trouble.
• Employs judgment and interpretation when regulations and guidelines are indistinct to accomplish daily tasks or handling various situations.
• Reviews visitor’s identifications to determine legality.
• Uses word processing software to create and or post informational handouts, flyers and reports concerning safety, events and other items of importance.
• Provides support and assistance processing a wide variety of requisitions.
• Provides guidance to public on rules and regulations regarding various activities (visitation, attorney visits)
• Delivers security and safety procedures to visitors.
• Ensures the information of the front (lobby/desk) for visitors was always staffed in order to provide prompt customer service to callers and visitors.
