My job description, as a Mental Health Technician. I was responsible for making follow-up appointments, for all mental health patient being discharged from the hospital. I was responsible for getting follow-up appointments for patients in other clinics as well. I was responsible for keeping a accurate spread sheet on all mental health patients discharged; from month to month. I was responsible, on some days, for checking patients into the various mental health clinic. I was responsible making sure that all the staff, such as doctors, social workers, nurses, psychologist, physician assistants, etc., made their thirty day follow-up call, to all of their patient. If the calls were not made, I was responsible for reporting it to the Program director. I was responsible for making sure all discharged mental health patient submit a exit survey. I was also responsible for attending 8:00 a.m. morning report; every morning. While at the Michael E. Debakey VA hopital, I also worked in serveral other position, such as , payroll clerk, whereas I was a timekeeper for the nursing department. I also worked and a medical unit ward clerk. In this position, I was responsible for making all admission charts for all patient being admitted to a particular unit. I was responsible for transcribing doctor's order. I was responsible for scheduling patient's lab works, x-ray examines, and any other appointments the doctors ordered. I was also responsible for answering all incoming calls, to the unit, and fowarding them the appropriate personel . The reason I left is because I reitired, after thirty years of service.
