The Third Path
  • Supervised character animation and motion graphics for The Third Path. Hired animators, critiqued animation at dailies, established camera angles and moves and fostered a sense of camaraderie among the animation team.
  • Collaborated with the editorial and art departments on The Third Path to build and time animatics. Strategized with the art department lead to coordinate asset delivery.
  • Designed a file structure to manage approximately 160 animated shots per episode for The Third Path. Developed workflow practices to efficiently integrate animation, art and editorial.
  • Researched, contacted and requested quotes from animation/FX studios worldwide for a complex FX simulation. Outsourced animation to a foreign studio and reviewed content through their client review system.
  • Eliminated costly post-production issues by identifying and fixing production assets as the lighting/compositing/FX supervisor on the direct-to-DVD series Boz the Bear.
  • Redesigned the character light rig, trained lighters on the new rig, and increased shot approval rate to over 50% from episode three to episode four of Boz the Bear.
  • Managed set construction for The Treasure Map. Reduced construction time through greater delegation, additional training, project ownership and improved material delivery.
  • Organized special events, conducted training seminars, emceed awards ceremony, approved expenditures, identified and placed leadership and oversaw weekly activities as director of an organization with over seventy volunteers. Invited to speak at state-wide training conferences.

Lighting/Compositing Artist

Free Birds
  • Lit and composited high quality shots very quickly on Free Birds. Nicknamed “Shot Assassin” by the CGI supervisor.
  • Depended on to tackle some of the most technically challenging shots on Free Birds and The Book of Life.
  • Flexible skill set. Frequently loaned to the surfacing team at ReelFX though a member of the lighting/compositing team. Surfacing supervisor praised “consistently high quality textures.”
  • Detailed at labeling, organizing and documenting work so follow-up artists can quickly revise. Lighting supervisor appreciated that comps were easy to adjust and organized.
  • Collaborated with TDS testing and troubleshooting new lighting pipeline tools. Maintained quota while testing new propriety crowd system on Free Birds.

Production Designer

Unusual Films
  • Investigated and solved vexing film recorder driver issue unresolved by the manufacturer’s technical support. Consulted the manufacturer on the solution. Substantial savings realized.
  • Pioneered the transition from optical to digital effects and integrated 3D animation and digital compositing to the film and video post-production process at Unusual Films.
  • Devised a successful integrated workflow for editing, animation, compositing, and film output departments across three computer platforms (Windows, MacOS, IRIX).
  • Initiated, organized and implemented a system for backing up and archiving projects.
  • Reduced programming bottleneck as a production designer for A Sure Foundation by achieving better equipment utilization. Rewarded by the director with a leading credit.
  • Researched, designed and built Russian props as assistant art director for the independent feature film The Printing. Distressed and decorated sets.
  • Scheduled and scripted output of 50,000+ frames of animation to 35mm motion picture film for The Golden ROM. Achieved nearly zero down time for the film recorder.
