Compassionate registered nurse seeking to create opportunities to expand practical experience and knowledge. My goal for a successful nursing career is to be competent in various areas of patient care.
Experience in this role focuses on transporting the surgical patient to and from surgery, assisting with positioning, prepping for surgery, and being of assistance during surgical procedures as the non-sterile team member. This role highly anticipates potential needs in the operating room environment by maintaining an organized workspace and replenishing supplies as needed for efficient workflow.
In this role, I currently work PRN as a MedSurg and Senior Behavioral Health Psychiatric RN. Prior to current PRN position, I held a full time MedSurg position seeing a wide variety of different disease processes and patients. Time management is key in my current position as I care for 5-6 patients at a time, on any given day. Skills practiced within these positions include IV insertion/management, CMST monitoring, wound care, IV/PO medications, foley-catheter insertion/care, head to toe assessments, pain assessments, prompt reporting to hospitalist, and of course, practicing compassionate bedside nursing. In February of 2024, I was awarded The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses at WRMC after four patient nominations. I take great honor in receiving this award.
Over the duration of 3 years at Clearview, I transitioned from CNA to nurse technician, and lastly LPN. Majority of my time spent with the organization was on a TBI unit. Day to day duties included de-escalating aggressive behaviors, orientation assessments, frequent medication passes, blood sugar monitoring and treatment, wound care, tube feedings, medicare/medicaid charting, and assistance with speech, occupational, and physical therapy.
At UW Health, I worked as a CNA trained as a PCT (Patient Care Technician) on a MedSurg unit. My day-to-day activities included assistance with activities of daily living, eating assistance, blood sugar checks, EKG's, answering call lights, and post-operative care such as bladder scans, orthostatic blood pressure checks, early ambulation after surgery, and assisting with other tasks delegated to me by the RN.
As a CNA in a long term care setting, my day-to-day job duties included assisting patients with daily living activities, reporting abnormal findings to the RN, answering call lights and completing various tasks, and being of assistance to the elderly population.
