CURE - Undergraduate Research Experience

Spring 2025

Developmental Biology Laboratory

  • Studied an uncharacterized fish species using classical embryology, coupled with molecular biology, to explain its monogamous behaviors. Primary research was conducted utilizing various laboratory techniques, such as PCR and in situ hybridization, to study the fish species. Specific genes in the neural pathway in the fish that were hypothesized to play a role in pair mating were studied and visualized throughout the semester.
  • Presentations of research data and results were given at the 2025 Fall Semester STEM Conference and the 2025 Spring Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSCURC).
