I have over 40 years of retail experience dating from 1978 to present. I started my career with Piggly Wiggly (Dixieland Food Stores)in 1978 as a stock clerk and worked my way up to Store Manager at a young age of 20 years old. I was dissatisfied with the atmosphere there and how employees were treated and moved on to restart my career at Publix Supermarkets in 1986. I started over as a stock clerk with eight years of experience and worked my way back to store manager in 1995. From 1986 to 1995 serving as a second assistant manager and assistant store manager which included moves to Charleston SC, Hilton Head, SC and then back to Charleston when I was promoted to Store Manager in 1995. I was a successful Store Manager for 23 years which included operating three Publix Stores in the Charleston Market. In 2016 I was honored to to win the George W. Jenkins Community Service Award for the Charlotte Division which pays tribute to those Publix Leaders who complete numbers community projects if his\her choice. My spouse and I flew to Corporate Headquarters along with other division winners where we toured several corporate facilities, met corporate leaders and were honored by the Board Of Directors. I can elaborate more on my Publix career if needed as there is too much information to share with 32 plus years of experience there.
I am currently employed by Berkeley County Child Nutrition Services where I serve as a Child Nutrition Manager. I am currently assigned to Foxbank Elementary School, supervise 4 to 6 employees and serve 1300 to 1500 meals a day. My work schedule is from 6am to 2:30pm. Monday through Friday, no weekends and off during the summer months when school is out of session. The job and responsibilities are not complicated compared to my former job, however the monetary reward is poor for what I am asked to accomplish.
