In 2019, as a squad leader with the 244th Maryland Engineer Company, I was tasked with leading a coalition of engineer units from the Navy and Army to support the Joint Special Forces in Afghanistan. Our mission was to construct four three-story buildings that would serve as a coalition command post for U.S. forces and the Afghan government.
