The company will contract us out to work at various facilities, therefore we get to learn different systems.

• Maintained up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and changes in coding guidelines, providing ongoing education to colleagues as necessary.

• I primarily do SDC;s for 4 different facilities then I do the ancillary RCR’s, INO’s, Wound care, and Clinics. I am remote and have to keep track of time and charts.

• Outpatient charts. I work the Same Day surgeries, HBO, wound care, clinics, RCR’s, observations, mommies, babies, and ER’s. I work with the Revenue on correcting accounts so they may be paid when there are errors.
• Decreased claim denial rates by promptly addressing any discrepancies or errors in coded information prior to submission.
• Strengthened communication between clinical staff and billing departments, resulting in a more efficient workflow.
• Participated in continuous learning opportunities, staying current on advances in medical science and evolving industry standards that impact outpatient coding practices.

• I did the clinical coding for the facility. This is a broad range of OB, ENT, Orthopedic, Internal medicine, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and the Psychiatric unit. I did the outpatient and surgery coding. I am very familiar with all the coding principals and guidelines. I started working for our sister hospital doing their coding in August 2008 to help them keep up, and then it became my duty full time. I previously worked at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Kentucky and did remote coding for a sister hospital before moving to Florida

• Office manager. I did all the coding and billing for this office, the majority of which was done via the Internet EDI software. I provided claim research and talked with the appropriate agencies to facilitate billing approval and claims process. I would take the claim from the walk-in stage all the way through to the result of the payment of denial. My job is hands on from patient to payment.
