As the head of the laundry department of a 5 building time-share resort, I was responsible for managing the supplies and textiles for the entire resort.
I ensured our staff was properly trained on MSDS requirements, use of industrial machines, and coordinated the turn-over for each day to be sure fresh linens were readily available.
I also managed the use and maintenance of our laundry transportation vehicle being sure it was kept clean, properly maintained, and driven by licensed drivers at all times.
During my time in this role, I was able to successfully gain approval for a third industrial dryer which significantly increased production time. This was considered quite a feat since it had previously been denied for the previous 10 years.
I also researched a number of products and companies to find ways to not only improve quality and was able to save the department $23.000 in supplies that year, all without jeopardizing the quality of our linens or production.
Part two of this role is that I also supervised in the housekeeping department. In this role I was responsible for managing the team and coordinating each days workload. The number of people on the team varied depending on day of the week. On a weekday, I may have managed 6-7 housekeepers and the laundry, and on a weekend the team could grow to 45-50.
I was responsible for inspecting each room before it was released for the new guest to ensure cleanliness and quality.
I managed the inventory for all 5 buildings from the products we cleaned with to the silverware in the drawers.
I had the opportunity during renovations to work closely with outside companies and coordinate team efforts to rebuild each unit.
