To provide prevention, intervention, counseling and mental health support services for identified students as an integral part of their total emotional, personal, social, vocational and educational development in order to remove barriers to academic achievement as indicated in ESSA.
Provided counseling services to diverse populations at Mesquite ISD’s Care Clinic. Worked with adolescents and families providing person-centered counseling, coupled with CBT techniques. Provided play therapy to numerous children while consulting and collaborating with parents to assess, create treatment plans, and manage goals for clients.
Proudly work within MISD to provide exceptional support and consistency to students while their regular classroom teacher is out for a planned or unplanned period of time. Have worked primarily at Scott Johnson Middle School and Cockrill Middle School, becoming a preferred substitute to teachers and administrators. Completed a long-term substitute position in 2020 while taking instruction from in-person to virtual.
Provide life/relationship coaching to clients seeking to move their lives forward. Work with individuals seeking to attain a life coach certification by assisting in class, grading assignments and maintaining the schedule and gradebook.
Taught 7th grade Texas History, 8th grade American History, 9th grade World Geography/World History I and 10th grade World History II. Coached middle school volleyball and varsity girls basketball assistant. Taught two sections, honors and regular, of each of the above classes. Worked under a block schedule. Class size ranged from 7 to 24 students. Involved in many engaging, hands-on activities, integration of technology, and life skills development.
