My name is Michelle Hasty and I am very interested in discussing how my experience, skills, and passion for helping people will benefit your practice and your patients.


You see, experience is one thing. And yes, it is a good thing to have when it comes to the medical field and operating on people's bodies and mouths. Criteria such as CPR certification (I will renew mine - it expired in 2020), OSHA, HIPAA, and medical coding, terminology, and transcription.


However, it is another thing to be able to relate to the patient. It is my philosophy when one has been the patient many times and walked in their shoes they can empathize with what the patient is going through and feeling. It helps us to realize the patient is not just a dollar sign, not just a body filling up a chair to keep us busy; but instead they are a person with feelings and fears like everyone else.


Having been through the procedures and surgeries myself, I truly believe it helps me to think in advance as to what does the patient need to know prior to their visit. What concerns or fears might be going through their mind after they leave. Things of that nature.


In your job posting on your website, you put that Piedmont Plastic Surgery & Dermatology "fosters health for all and is a team". It made me inspired to read that.


You will see from my resume that I have been out of the work force for almost 4 years now. The reason for that is I have been raising children. However, I am definitely ready and prepared to commence a new career and a long term one. My goal is to begin not only a job, but a place that I consider my second "home" where the staff is also my family.

Office Manager/Dental Assistant, Chairside

Greeted patients as they came in, checked them in for their appointments, verified their information was accurate, and let the doctor know they were in.


Checked patients out for their visits, collected their payments (we were a self-pay office), then I filed their insurance claims for them for reimbursement to our patients.


In charge of Microsoft Outlook emails and scheduling all new patients.


In charge of accounts receivable.


Assisted chairside with the dentist as needed and helped impress for whitening trays and retainers.


Assisted in the lab with sterilization of instruments.


Wiped down and sterilized each room after use.


Ordered supplies for the back and front office as needed. Kept track of our list via an excel sheet.


Assisted our periodontist who flew in two weeks out of the month. He conducted reconstructive surgery on patients and I would assist him as needed.


I was in constant communication with the higher up owner of the office (one of the doctor's wives) who lived in Arizona. We would Skype frequently and talk via phone regarding how the days progressed and regarding game plans for the upcoming days' agenda.

Checked out patients after their dental visits and collected their co-payments. This office was in network with certain insurances and accepted most insurances rather than having patients self-pay.


Presented and entered treatment plans into the Eaglesoft system to help the Dental Assistants in the back save time if they were running behind.


Explained to patients how their insurance benefits worked so they understood the process of things.


Ensured signatures on each form for treatment.


Answered the phone lines in addition to a couple of other girls at the front desk.


Assisted in verifying dental insurances and enter it into the system.


Assisted with dental insurance appeals at times when our insurance coordinator needed it or asked.
