Hello, my name is Michelle Llamas. I am currently a senior at Prescott College, pursuing a major in Psychology and Human Development and a breadth in Interdisciplinary Studies. Studying psychology and human development has driven me on a journey to understand the complexities of the human mind and how we grow and change throughout life. Throughout my undergraduate journey, I've fallen into specialized areas, like developmental psychology, allowing me to gain practical experience in research, analysis, and critical thinking skills to evaluate their real-world applications. In May 2025, I will embark on an exciting new chapter as a graduate student. I'm eager to build my psychology background seeking internships, hands-on training, and job opportunities in my field of choice.
As a preschool education teacher, I got to work with children ages 3-5, fostering early development in social, emotional, and cognitive skills. On this job it is very important to create a safe and nurturing environment, plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons, and support the development of basic literacy, numeracy, and motor skills for the kids to enjoy their time at such a young age. For this same reason, creativity and play-based learning is encouraged this helps children develop a love for learning while preparing them for elementary school. Effective communication with parents and caregivers is also a key part of the job.
