Also skilled at US-guided paracentesis/thoracentesis, US-guided biopsies, aspirations, and steroid injections
  • Reviews allergies, patient history, and physical assessment findings with the patient and medical team prior to the scheduled procedure. Uses clinical expertise to determine if patient is appropriate for procedure
  • Administers moderate sedation intra-procedure as well as titrating medications appropriately. Monitors patient throughout procedure and helps to circulate and hand off needed supplies in procedure room

  • Manage arterial lines, ventilators, pulmonary artery catheters, bladder pressures, CVVHD dialysis machines, train-of-four twitch monitors, and permanent and temporary pacemakers
  • Provide education to patient and families before discharging to an IMC floor, rehab facility, or home
  • Preceptor to both experienced and new-graduate nurses
  • Experienced charge nurse on day/night shift
  • Team member of the Virtual ICU (VICU)-flexible surgery ICU unit made up of a pool of experienced ICU RNs that are dispatched wherever the need is, to help ICU patients get the ICU level of care (i.e PACU, different ICU) without having a physical bed in an ICU, as well as helping with OR holds, Rapid Responses and Codes
