INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT

• recognize name, colors, shapes, numbers, upper and lower case letters, beginning letter sounds
• count to 100, count by 5's and 10's
• ability to follow a two to three step direction and classroom routine
• exposure to the concept of writing though dictation, journals, chalkboards,

(writing is developmental as is tying shoes) site words in the Spring

• attend small group for 30 minutes and complete given task
• listen at story time

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

• share, take turns, play cooperatively, get along with others
• follow simple rules and maintain self control
• respect feelings and work of others
• will establish real friendships
• communicate needs verbally rather than physically acting them out
• looks to an adult for help when needed

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• cope with separation anxiety
• show self-confidence
• follow daily schedule, directions and work independently
• adjust and respond to many teachers during the course of the day

FINE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT

• trace and copy, beginning to draw figures
• manipulate pencil, crayons, markers, paint brush, scissors, puzzle pieces, buttons, zippers, threading beads, lacing cards, gluing
• play dough

LARGE MOTOR DEVELOPMENT

• become aware of their own place and space
• walk inside run outside
• run, jump, hop on one foot, throw and catch a ball
• use balance beam
• walk forward and backwards
