After years of Healthcare work, I moved onto Career and Technical Education and taught from my own experience. In transitioning to Workforce Development, many of the same skills I learned in the classroom I continue to utilize, such as collaboration, JEDI/DEI standards and documentation (case notes). In my Workforce Development career, I've had clients from all walks of life: homeless, youth, unemployed adults, and aging population.
St John’s Shelter Program, Sacramento, CA
I began as a participant of this program. They helped me find housing and go back to college. In return, I volunteered in the childcare center and helped mothers register volunteer hours (at the center) for college credit. I helped women choose work appropriate outfits from donated item. I worked on the Alumni Board and had mattresses donated from Sleep Train to women that had found housing. Honored to be named Mom of the Year due to the aforementioned duties and much more.
