Floats between three hospitals including units of medical-surgical and telemetry providing care to patients with strokes, trauma injuries, cardiac disease, and psychiatric disorders. Floats to emergency departments and psychiatric units to assist nurses as helping hands in events of low staffing. Responsibilities include safely administering medications per orders, blood transfusion and other blood product administration, IV insertions, assessments and applying interventions as needed. Facilitated therapeutic communication, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention by redirecting negative behaviors and applying de-escalation strategies.

Provided management and post operative care for the following: cardiac catheterizations, coronary artery bypass graft, valve replacements, pacemaker placements, and trauma injuries. Management of chest tubes, wound vacs, PCA pumps, and epidurals. Collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team to formulate plans based on patient needs. Educated patient's on preventative and post operative home care needs following discharge.

Monitor hemodynamic status, perform EKG's, interpret rhythms, and administer/titrate prescribed cardiac medications and drips. Provided care to patient's post cardiac catheterization and maintained indicated protocols. Assist patients in strength building toward a return to their home environment, ensuring readiness through health status monitoring and facilitation of treatment plans. Developed and maintained positive relationships with patients and their families.

Manage and implement patient care for cardiovascular needs such as heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions, and other cardiovascular dysfunctions. Management of cardiac drips including milrinone, amiodarone, dobutamine, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, and diltiazem. Provided post operative and procedural care to patient's following TEE's, cardioversions, CABG's, cardiac catheterizations, and transcatheter aortic valve replacements.

Floated to Stepdown and Med/Surg units including specialties of cardiac, neurology, respiratory, and Covid 19 units. Key responsibilities included oxygen administration and management, IV insertions, nasogastric tube insertions, and medication administration. Provided emotional support to patients and families during times of emotional distress, increasingly throughout the pandemic. Developed key, professional relationships with providers and other multi-disciplinary staff to ensure patient's quality and communication of care throughout the admission process.
