Performs work planning/work direction responsibilities. Based on established work schedules, determines work sequence and makes work assignments accordingly. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Records and ensures validity of entries into maintenance data collection and inspection systems. Perform inspections following contracted depot maintenance or modifications to avionic systems. Analyzes equipment operation characteristics to isolate malfunctions in avionics systems such as Ground Collision Avoidance Systems, Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems, Navigation Systems, VOR, TACAN and GPS radar, integrated test systems built-in-test (BIT), multiplexed data bus systems, recording systems, video display systems, mission computer systems, inertial navigation systems (INS), primary and secondary flight controls, automatic flight control, engine instrumentation, central air data systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, sensors, communication, and navigation systems, aircraft indication systems. Removes, installs, surveys, and repairs avionics system and line replaceable units (LRU).
  • Diagnose malfunctions using technical orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, integrate test systems and other test equipment. Removes, replaces, and repairs faulty system wiring, electrical connectors, antennas, transmission lines, and multi conduction cables. Modify avionics systems according to technical publications. Updates operational logs, inspection records, aircraft forms, and automated maintenance systems. Performs and supervises alignment and calibration of avionics systems. Upload ground maintenance and operation software. Performs off- equipment maintenance on selected avionics LRU’s and maintains support equipment. Inspects and verifies operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software.
  • Interprets and recommends corrective action to inspection findings. Direct operation and modification of standard operating procedures by establishing priorities. Supervises and assists in aircraft ground servicing, and launch/ recovery operations assuring avionics quality and reliabilities are implemented and maintained. Additional training and implementation of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment, Safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. Read and interpret blue prints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
