Aircraft Mechanic I - Aviation Life Support Services (AME) performs organizational, intermediate and limited depot level maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and troubleshooting on all assigned aircraft, components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.

Principal Accountabilities

• Interpret Maintenance Instruction Manuals, maintenance requirement cards, work from related schematics, diagrams, drawings, technical directives, maintenance/servicing instructions and operational written procedures and Company directives to perform maintenance.
• Install and remove cartridge actuated devices.
• Maintain aircraft ALSS history records in required logs and records.
• Performs inspections and maintenance of aircraft air conditioning systems, fire warning/extinguishing systems. Identifies and treats corrosion.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, removes and replaces associated parts and components on a variety of systems, such as aircraft mounted and aircrew ALSS (survival equipment), cabin environmental and pressurization systems, equipment cooling, liquid and gaseous oxygen systems.
• Perform related duties in hazardous areas such as oxygen system, engine fire extinguishing systems including the removal and replacement of cartridge-actuated devices.
• Maintains foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.

• Performs disassembly, overhaul and repair of parts, components and subsystems for in-service aircraft applications of products and processes.
• Reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
• Reads and interprets planning, blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of removal, repair, replacement and installation of parts and components of mechanical aircraft subsystems.
• Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop or back drill hole patterns for access doors, installation or replacement of sheet metal parts or other like applications.
• Trims to fit, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smoothes surfaces. Bolts, rivets, screws, clips, caulks, or bonds component parts to assemble products.
• Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.

• Maintains and repairs the following aircraft systems: Ejection seats; Crash worthy seats; Canopy systems; Aircraft Egress Systems; Gaseous and Liquid Oxygen systems; Aircraft air-conditioning and pressurization systems; Avionics and Ground Cooling Equipment Systems; Aircraft Utility Systems; Management of Egress Explosive Devices
