Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performed abrasive blasting on structural steel, piping, tanks, vessels, and industrial equipment using garnet, steel grit, and other approved blasting media to achieve the required surface profile.
- Prepared surfaces by removing rust, mill scale, old coatings, grease, and contaminants in accordance with SSPC/NACE standards.
- Applied protective coating systems including zinc-rich primers, epoxy coatings, polyurethane topcoats, inorganic zinc, and other corrosion-resistant coatings using airless spray equipment, conventional spray guns, brushes, and rollers.
- Mixed paints, catalysts, hardeners, and reducers in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and project requirements.
- Measured Wet Film Thickness (WFT) and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) using calibrated coating gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conducted visual inspections to identify coating defects such as holidays, runs, sags, pinholes, and overspray, performing touch-ups and repairs when required.
- Installed and removed industrial insulation systems on piping, cryogenic lines, vessels, tanks, and process equipment using fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, PIR, and cellular glass insulation materials.
- Performed Painting Under Insulation (PUI) and corrosion protection for Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) prevention by preparing surfaces and applying approved coating systems before insulation installation.
- Installed and aligned cold shoes, pipe supports, insulated pipe supports, vapor barriers, and moisture barriers for cryogenic and low-temperature piping systems in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications.
- Performed insulation work on LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) facilities, including cryogenic piping, valves, fittings, process equipment, and storage systems while maintaining thermal integrity and condensation control.
- Installed aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized metal jacketing, banding systems, and weatherproof cladding to protect insulation systems from moisture, mechanical damage, and environmental exposure.
- Operated and maintained blast pots, air compressors, airless spray pumps, spray guns, hoses, nozzles, moisture separators, and related blasting and painting equipment.
- Protect adjacent equipment, valves, flanges, instruments, and sensitive areas by masking and covering surfaces before blasting and coating operations.
- Worked closely with Quality Control inspectors to verify coating quality and ensure all blasting, painting, insulation, and cryogenic insulation activities met client specifications and project standards.
• Maintained a clean and organized work area while following company safety procedures, confined space requirements, fall protection practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
