Summary

I received Christ as my Savior one Sunday morning in January 2005, after hearing the preaching of the gospel at Grace Baptist Church in Murray, Ky. I immediately began to serve in His church and was discipled by some biblically strong, godly men. In February 2011, God called me to preach, and I began preaching in local nursing homes and the local detention facility. After joining the family of New Zion Baptist Church in 2013, I realized God was calling me to pastor. I accepted my first bi-vocational ministry position as Bus Pastor at New Zion one year later. After almost two and a half years in that ministry, God called me away. I continued to work full-time as a self-employed handyman in Calloway County during a gap of about seven months in my pastorate. However, God confirmed to me that He had a plan, and He kept me busy preaching and serving in volunteer ministry. I served in another local church by preaching and teaching between February 2017 and November 2017 until I was called to pastor New Hope Baptist Church in November 2017. I served there through February 2020, and in March 2020 I was voted in to be the new pastor of Donaldson Baptist Church. Recently, my family and I have seen that God is changing our course again. Through much prayer and meditation God has revealed to us that our ministry at Donaldson Baptist Church is finished.

Work History

Pastor

Donaldson Baptist Church
04.2020 - 10.2024

When I began my ministry at Donaldson, the church had already closed the doors to in-person corporate worship. We quickly found inventive ways to gather for services, beginning with parking lot services, then we moved to the church fellowship hall, and finally, we were able to meet in the sanctuary after approximately four months of separation from in-person corporate worship. My position at Donaldson is a full-time position where I was responsible for daily church operations, ministry oversight, sermon preparation and preaching, as well as visitation and prayer. In my time at Donaldson we saw some changes in the make up of the congregation, with twenty-eight baptisms and thirteen other additions to the church while maintaining and average attendance of 105 on Sunday mornings. I was also able to facilitate the addition of a new sound system and screens in the sanctuary, as well as a security plan and cameras for the church. These were things that could not be accomplished in the church before.

Pastor

New Hope Baptist Church
11.2017 - 02.2020

I was a bi-vocational pastor at New Hope. I was blessed to see the grow both spiritually and numerically in just over two years. The first Sunday morning I preached at New Hope there were thirty-five in attendance, eight of those folks were my family. We saw twelve baptisms and nine other additions to the membership at New Hope while I was their pastor. When I left New Hope, they were averaging fifty-five in Sunday morning attendance, and we often saw our attendance in the sixties, and sometimes we had almost eighty folks in Sunday morning attendance.

Bus Pastor

New Zion Baptist Church
09.2014 - 02.2017

At New Zion, I was a bi-vocational associate pastor responsible for a youth and children's bus ministry. I was entrusted by the church to follow God's leadership in teaching the youth through bus ministry, scheduling volunteers for Saturday visitations, and finding volunteers to work on the church buses every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. In addition to the teaching and activities on the buses, we also had activities outside of normal church hours for our youth and children. Through the Holy Spirit's leadership, the bus ministry grew from twenty-four, to over sixty youth within one year. As the bus pastor at New Zion I was able to witness eighteen youth make professions of faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and three parents made professions of faith as well. There were twenty-two additions to New Zion as direct result of God's leading in the bus ministry.

Additional Information

Volunteer Ministry: I have also many ministry and secular volunteering experiences in the last eighteen years due to my heart for missions. I have assisted in many local mission projects in every place I have lived since becoming a believer. Those projects have included, food and clothing distribution, jail ministry, shut-in ministries, local construction ministries, and many others. I have also been on many mission trips in Kentucky and spent one week working at a Baptist camp in Illinois. In Muhlenberg County, my wife and I were responsible for the operation of the associational Crisis ministry that provided food and clothing for the poor and needy for about one year. I also volunteered as a mentor to boys from less than ideal home environments at a local elementary school. I have also been on mission in Durango, Mexico. Since Covid-19 mission work has slowed for me, but I do serve in the ministry of the Caldwell-Lyon Baptist Association, and I currently serve as the Calwell County Band Booster President.

Leadership: Throughout most of my adult life I have been in some position of leadership, whether it was in ministry, or in secular work. I have managed people in restaurants, construction, civil service, and ministry. I have also handled many administrative responsibilities, and I have about twenty years of management experience. When leading people, I avoid dictating every detail whenever possible, but I am not fearful of stepping in to correct minor details when such action is necessary.

Communication: I communicate goals and needs effectively within the church. I have typically been blessed in communicating what God leads me to do without causing division among those around me. My preaching style is expository, energetic, and louder than most, but I avoid charismatic behavior in the pulpit. I desire a response to what I preach that is led by conviction from the Holy Spirit of God, not the emotions of man.

Basic Doctrinal Beliefs: Salvation only comes through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior. Once an individual is saved, they cannot lose their salvation. All lost souls have a chance to be saved. God knows who will choose to be saved, but He does not predestine some souls to heaven, and others to hell. Water Baptism does not save anyone. Immersion is the only correct way to practice believer's baptism. Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances given to the New Testament Church. The New Testament church is autonomous. Jesus Christ is the head of the New Testament church. Marriage is between one man and one woman, who come together as one before God.
