Course Description:
With craft beer on the rise, this course will prepare students for entry-level work in a brewery. Through hands-on training and lectures, students will explore the science of fermentation and commercial level concerns within brewery operations. Students will also produce beer as a class, and in small groups, to show their understanding of the principles learned in the classroom and field environments.
Course Goals: Over the next 16 weeks you’ll spend time split between the classroom and Heyday Brewing discovering the fundamentals of the brewing process. During this time, you’ll be expected to attend lectures and participate in hands-on practicums in the brewery. Upon completion, students will be able successfully attain an entry-level brewing position through demonstration of brewing knowledge and hands-on skills.
