In summary, I am a highly effective Program Manager with internal agency and community based project experience, program budgetary oversight, and program planning. Offering an array of skills in provider recruitment, credentialing and privileging, interpersonal skills, policy and workflow development, program planning, and data tracking systems for accurate reporting and projections, technical writing, stakeholder engagement and team management. Proven ability to meet accrediting national standards and program contractual obligations while balancing operational demands. Track record of success, program improvement planning while managing competing priorities and deadlines in time-pressured environments.
I was employed for over eighteen years at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with now 11 locations through-out Rhode Island. I learned of this small health center with only 200 employees while working with Congressman Patrick Kennedy's district office. The individuals I met while working on health care initiatives inspired me. An opening at the health center for a Case Manager started my long tenure with the agency where I achieved several promotions. The positions I held included direct patient care, developing and sustaining community partnerships, operational/administrative duties, recruitment, privileging and credentialing providers, and concluded, managing the Primary Care and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Fellowships. These experiences coincided with my commitment to our program and agency mission’s in caring for our communities while understanding and curating a team-centered environment. It was important to not only participate in efforts to care for those in our communities but to advocate for the individuals who were the actual caregivers. The agency now has over 900 employees, and it is thrilling to know how much wonderful work they continue to do in so many areas of healthcare. Earlier this year I resigned from my position to return to school. The timing was simultaneously the best time for both of my programs to incur minimal disruption.
The dissemination of information for recent graduates on licensing and onboarding in any role can be overwhelming. My credentialing and privileging experience provided an opportunity to be on the ground floor with incoming staff and building trusting relationships. I have personally seen the benefits of those bonds built on sharing information and having a team centered approach.
My past management and operational experience lead me to want to be a part of our programs and its continued growth. I moved on from the credentialing and privileging role to be a part of the internal team working to build our nurse practitioner provider team. On day one of taking on this role it was made clear we would be seeking accreditation through the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Training Consortium. We achieved national accreditation for both programs in a remarkable eighteen months. The experience of pursuing this accreditation was the best experience and inspiration for our program and the candidates we serve. However, I missed the ability to assist a larger number of onboarding providers into a continuously growing agency.
It is also important to share my path has included a focus on community service, administration, and operations. My work experience has allowed me to establish strong working relationships with people of all ethnic, spiritual, LGBTQ2S+ communities and socioeconomic backgrounds. My work with community and charity organizations has al- lowed me to establish relationships with community leaders and these relationships have been vital in garnering program support resulting in very successful events and fundraising. Helping and being a part of a supportive and affirming environment for new providers and clinicians as they were on the verge of starting their professional careers is gratifying. It would be an honor to learn more of how I would help an agency and team to achieve overall goals and objectives.
