  • As a Direct Support Professional I gave complete and total care for individuals with special needs. Both Ambulatory and wheelchair bound individuals. From school age to the elderly. My job consisted of bathing, dressing , feeding, changing soiled depends, helping with oral care, making beds for individuals who were unable to complete these task for themselves, I also assisted individuals who had the ability to complete these tasks on their own but required supervision and assistance. I completed range of motion and oral stimulation with individuals. I was responsible for monitoring, behaviors, seizures and recording data on each individual I was assigned to. I had to document and report any concerns, issues of individuals with the nursing staff pertaining to individuals. I had to help supervise and assist individuals on working on and completing their assigned goals.. I obtained a CDL license through the company and was assigned to drive the company's bus to transport special needs individuals in wheelchairs and to and from their doctor appointments. On outings(movies, dinner, park, camp, etc.) I also transported them to and from their day program (Mon-Fri).

The company I worked for paid for me to get my CDL (Class C) license. I was appointed by the Administrator to drive the company's bus / van. I transported our special needs Residents to their Day Program Monday - Friday. I transported them to and from Doctor appointments, I also transported them to and from their scheduled outings. I had my CDL for 15 years.
