Accomplishments

  • National Honor Society (August 2022-Current): I currently have 64 hours community service hours for organizations such as Quarantunes and Feed My Starving Children. I always try to go to Feed My Starving Children with new people, I love being a part of their first experience to teach them how it works. I have also volunteered at a few elementary schools (ex: Weinberg Elementary) helping organize school events.
  • Leo Club (November 2023-Current): The purpose of Leo Club is to encourage students to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities. Leo Club is similar to the National Honor Society because it values service. While attending service events, I have developed teamwork and organization skills through hands-on experience.
  • Feed My Starving Children (July 2021-Current): I frequently volunteer at Feed My Starving Children which is a non-profit organization that strives to eliminate malnutrition by providing meals to starving children in numerous countries across the world such as Haiti, India, Kenya, etc. Each session lasts 2 hours and everyone volunteering has an assigned job. I had the pleasure of fulfilling the role of every job a volunteer can do which includes labeling the food, packing the food, and working in the warehouse which requires an individual to carry boxes of rice and dry vegetables to each station for packing.
  • Quarantunes (March 2023-August 2023): Quarantunes is a non-profit music organization that provides free virtual music lessons to children who are interested in playing a musical instrument such as piano or guitar. As a Chief Executive Teacher Coordinator, my responsibility was to plan events, keep track of students' and teachers' activity, and set up orientations with potential teachers to see if they are qualified to become a teacher. I was Chief Executive Teacher Coordinator of the board for one term.
  • Black Student Union (August 2022-Current): I have participated in BSU for both my junior and senior year of high school and through the conversations I have had with my advisors and leaders, I learned more about the history of African Americans and the challenges that we face on a daily basis more than any history class I have taken in school. I have learned to feel more comfortable in my own skin by being surrounded with peers who experience the same struggles.
  • Awarded 3.9 GPA Academic Letter (December 2022): In order to be eligible to receive an academic letter, an individual has to complete 3 consecutive semesters of high school and students have to be in the top 10% of their junior class for academic achievements. I dedicate a large amount of my time to focus on my academics. If I ever needed extra help with a topic that I am struggling to understand, I would seek help through my teachers and I continue to ask questions because I have found it leads to being successful. With my persistence, drive, and dedication, I was able to be at the top of my class.
  • Beginning Guitar (August 2022- December 2022): I took this course for one semester because I have always had a passion for music since I was a child, but I never got the opportunity to learn guitar. This class taught me the basics of guitar which include basic strumming patterns, parts of the guitar, open chords and barre chords, tuning by ear, and music theory. I had the opportunity to perform the songs that I have been practicing to my entire class.
  • Biology Club (August 2022- May 2023): I went to the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) at Toyon Bay. It was an educational school organized trip on Catalina Island in California. This is available for AP Biology students who are in the Biology club. I learned about many concepts of science during this trip through labs that consisted of fish, shark, algae, oceanography, etc.
