During my childhood I was exposed to my fathers owned/operated construction company. This company was run out of home so the daily operations were very present in my life. This gave me the opportunity to learn from a young age construction terminology, business operations, employee management, and what it is like to work hard.
After graduating from Charleston High School I attended Southern Illinois University studying Early Childhood Education. I graduated in May of 2004 with a Bachelors of Science and degree in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education.
I then moved back to my home town of Charleston, IL with my husband (also from Charleston, IL) and began my teaching career. During this same time my partner was starting a lawn care and landscaping company. After teaching for a couple of years our company had grown to a point that I needed to leave teaching and operate the office. During my 10 years working in the lawn care and landscaping construction filed I learned a lot about heavy equipment, working with venders, hiring and managing employees, and running the day to day business operations.
Currently I am a Learning Behavioral Specialist 1 at Carl Sandburg Elementary School in Charleston, IL. My passion is to make a difference in the lives of others. I enjoy teaching children and also working with their parents/guardians. My responsibilities include planning and implementing individualized instruction to students with Emotional Disabilities, creating Individual Education Plans, and working with a team of other professionals in the field of education.
