Throughout my 35 years I've had the opportunity to be in various career's, however different they may be my one goal was always, how can I help those around me most. The one question with any job of why do you want this, I could give the obvious answers of wanting to be there for someone on their worst day because of those I've met on my worst days, however truthful that may be it is a generic one that is used time and time again. What truly fuels me into wanting to become a police officer is a variety of things, it comes from helping to protect those that I work with at Timpanogos Hospital and also learning how to control a situation and deescalate something that has potential to turn ugly. I've earned the title psych whisperer among the Emergency Room staff because of how effective my presence and actions are with those struggling. The responses from coworkers and of law enforcement has lead me to want to become a Mental Health Police Officer. A position I know doesn't exist in most forces, but something that may be an option eventually. Being raised by parents whom are both of the mental health world it only makes sense to those close to me that this is something I would try to pursue.
