After failing to become a professional baseball player, I experienced profound disappointment. Consequently—adopting the mindset that I simply needed to do *something*—I enlisted in the military. Thanks to my quick adaptability, I adjusted to military life with ease; in fact, I found it more enjoyable than I had anticipated and even considered becoming an officer. However, still harboring lingering attachments to baseball, I instead enrolled in a junior college in Korea. I eventually dropped out, having concluded that the institution offered no viable future prospects, and subsequently set my sights on attending a university in the United States—determined to pursue both the baseball career I had left unfinished and the academic studies I had yet to undertake.
