Projects Research

  • Senior Design - The Bottle - Collaborated with other students to redesign a drinking vessel for patients with limited motor skills, tremors, and disability of the hands and arms. Applied industrial design practices and techniques to engineering design problems. Constructed and tested prototype designs. Developed and implemented a design verification plan and report. Communicated and presented results orally, graphically, and in writing.
  • Micro/Nanofabrication - Applied processes techniques in the fabrication of microelectronic and microfluidic devices: cleanroom protocol, oxidation, diffusion, photolithography etching, and sputtering of silicon wafers. Fabricated PMOS transistors, diodes, diffused resistors, and thin film resistors. Used Synopsys TCAD Sentaurus, computer modeling system to evaluate process plan.
  • Medical Device Club - Pain Communication App - Purpose was to Design a better form/process of pain communication between doctor-patient. Created an App design outline, which would track pain events and create individual pain baseline.
  • Engineers Without Borders - Co-author of “Engagement in Practice: Engineers Without Borders at a Community College: Lessons Learned,” presented at the American Society for Engineering Education 2021 Annual Conference. Cal Poly and Cuesta Community College were the first four-year and community college partner programs to enter EWB. The paper outlines the various lessons learned from the prospective of the students and faculty.
  • Quality of Life + - Designing a mouthpiece cover for the QuadStick controller that is easy to clean and replaceable for paraplegic gamers.
  • Astronomy Research - Double Star Observation - Co-author of 'An Astrometric Observation of Double Star WDS 19072+2053,' published in the Journal of Double Star Observation. Interdisciplinary research done with various colleges around California.
  • Environment and Applied Microbiology - Field Research - Performed field research to collect water samples from various sources around the slough in Moss Landing, CA. Analyzed samples in the microbiology lab to survey the organisms in the various marine micro-systems.

Leadership Experience

  • Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) - North Pacific Ambassador - Support regional member communication, member networking, membership development, and promoting AAHOA's mission, services, and programs. As an ambassador for the North Pacific Region, I represent the members of Monterey County at national and regional conferences, also advocate biannually in Washington DC and Sacramento for particular causes or policies. As Women Hotelier Committee member review proposals and make recommendations for Women Hoteliers initiatives across the nation. Additionally, work on any initiatives recommended by the Board and/or Women Hotelier Directors, ie HerOwnership Conference and educational sessions.
  • Society of Women Engineers (SWE) - Cal Poly - Volunteer SWE Fall Welcome for prospective high school students and SWE BAE Day an event for middle school students to learn about different fields in engineering. Sat on the Transfer Students Committee, organizing and supporting events for incoming or prospective students to Cal Poly.
  • Engineers Without Borders (EWB) - Cuesta College - Honorary Member - A founding member of the first community college (CC) chartered into the national organizational held an advisory role to the officer team. Presented at the National EWB Conference Pittsburg, PA, about hardships and support we starting the chapter.
  • Cuesta College STEM Club - Vice President - Planned and organized bimonthly club meetings, events and field trips. Events include Children's Day booth in downtown San Luis Obispo organizing activities for kids, also Club Days and campus events. With Event Coordinator planned trips to SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant and others.
