Here I specialized in wound care in the outpatient setting. Daily wound care duties include daily dressing changes (mostly post operative), wound vac dressings changes, with an emphasis in wound care teaching to patients and family for optimal wound healing. Communication is a top priority in the clinical setting. As well as working with multiple electronic health records to keep in contact with various different Surgeons and Dr.'s office regarding patient status and patient needs, while working in a fast paced clinical setting. Other daily duties of my job include infusions and blood product transfusions in the outpatient setting. I am thorough with education and explanation of procedures and protocols of the institution. I am highly trained in skills such as port access, central line draws, IV insertions and IV medications, as well as thorough patient monitoring to tolerance of infusion/transfusion and as needed updating Dr. 's of patient status such as critical lab values, tolerance to medication and potential adverse effects recognized in a timely manner and communicated back to the provider.
Registered Nurse
Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital
Lincoln, NE

I worked on the Ventilator/Special needs unit for nearly 12 years. The first six years, I worked as a CNA/CMA while completing Nursing School. Once I completed school, I came back and worked as an RN on the Ventilator/Special needs unit. Here I worked with critically ill patients with complex needs. Daily job duties included Ventilator management, medication administration through IV, central lines and peritoneal administration, complex wound care and thorough assessments were of top priority. Also, as the patient's primary RN, being able to work well within a team with multiple healthcare workers to timely coordinate patient care and needs was a must. I am a strong believer in the power of teamwork and used my team's leading skills to coordinate and respectively delegate patient care and patient needs. As a team leader, I also worked as a Charge Nurse and WOCN as needed. I was also on the Medical Assist Team/Code team and utilized my ACLS skills and training. As well as being a Preceptor to new employees and students. This was a very complex fast paced job where a critical eye and good assessment skills were needed and used on a daily basis.
