As a level 4 OB unit, I collaborate with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions. We are able to rotate to different areas of the OB unit.

• In the labor area, I provide care of the expectant mother during labor and delivery which include: monitoring closely for potential complications and responding swiftly to emergencies, care of high risk patients 1:1, preterm patients, providing emotional support, administering medications as needed, blood transfusions, monitoring the fetal heart rate and contractions and assisting the residents and MD's with delivery and recovering PP.
• In the OB ED area, I triage any expectant mother from 18 weeks and up to 6 weeks post-partum. Take a quick history, assigned MFTI, place patients on the fetal monitor, do vital signs and give report to MD/ Midwife depending on the level of care needed. Other duties include, IV placements, blood draws, Iron infusions, start IV medications such as to control blood pressure or insulin drips as well as monitoring closely for potential complications. Also I get C/S patients ready if they come thru OB ED.
• In the OR, I do all the duties of a circulating nurse.
• In the Recovery room, I provide pre-op care for the scheduled C/S patients as well as the recovery of C/S's, tubal ligation, blood patches and cerclage placement or removal.

• Strengthened unit care standards and policies with focus on patient safety and dignity.
• Maximized team performance by monitoring nursing care, including patient assessment processes and treatment implementations.
• Trained new nurses in proper techniques, care standards, operational procedures and safety protocols to optimize performance and safety.
• Coordinated nursing care on unit through staff assignments, assisting and rounding with physicians, monitoring patient orders and communicating with ancillary departments and assisting staff.
• Collaborated with physicians to quickly assess patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions.
• Prepare patients for Scheduled Caesarian Sections, Circulate RN on C/S, Scrub RN in Emergencies, PACU recovery of C/S. Mother & Baby care.
• Bedside RN for Labor and Delivery patients, Mother/Baby care as well as Gyn patients.
• Assist primary nurse at delivery time. Be primary of secondary RN for baby at delivery time.
• Care of mother in labor, delivery and postpartum.
• Care of Preterm labor patients.

• Coordinated care of low and high-risk laboring women of childbearing age and immediate stabilization of newborn following delivery.
• Supported pregnant women in healthy labor processes, including changing bodily positions and breathing and massaging through contractions.
• Assisted doctors in monitoring baby and mother health during labor.
• Supported physicians in both planned and emergency Cesarean section procedures.
• Assisted obstetrician with deliveries and cared for newborns directly after birth.
• Responded to emergency situations such as pre-eclampsia, early labor and fetal distress.
• Communicated with healthcare team members to plan, implement and enhance treatment strategies.
• Monitored and assessed mother and newborn after delivery to ascertain proper healing and recovery.
• Educated new parents on how to properly care for infants by instructing parents on bottle feeding, bathing, circumcision care and breastfeeding.

• Oversaw delivery of care for all patients on a 600 deliveries/month labor and delivery unit as a part time charge nurse , delegated nursing assignments and supervised team comprised of nurses, new residents and unit clerks.
• When no in charge, provided direct patient care from admission to delivery, circulating during caesarian section and recovery after surgery.
• Monitored patient condition in a high risk labor unit, including interpreting and tracking fetal monitoring readings, identifying irregular patterns and updating team members on changes in stability or acuity.
• Primary RN for high risk patients as well as pre term patients.

• Delivered medications via oral, IV and intramuscular injections, monitoring responses to address new concerns.
• Effectively prioritized assignments, executing care based on each patient's relative condition
• Monitored patients' conditions and reported changes in physical ability, appearance and behavior to discuss treatment with physicians.
