Summary

I enjoy working towards and accomplishing goals in every aspect of my life. I love people and being of service. I believe that in order to get great at something, you have to be willing to fail, make mistakes, and consistently show up and improve. I have had great experiences with people I've worked with and worked for because I listen intently, ask questions, and work to be independent and trusted in where I work. Whether its on a job site pouring concrete, in a class working on a medical case study with classmates, or training mentors for a freshman orientation. I want to give my very best work.

New Student Mentoring Coordinator and Director

Brigham Young University-Idaho
01.2021 - 04.2022
  • Mentoring Department that plans Freshman Orientation and works personally with each new student during their first semester at BYU-I.
  • Each new student to BYU-I is assigned 2 experienced volunteer student mentors that contact each student prior to their arrival at college. Mentors are assigned around 30 new students that they voluntarily guide through the 3 day orientation. Throughout the semester, mentors contact, support and answer questions, create social events, and spend time with these students.
  • There is a group of 11-15 Coordinators that are involved in recruiting these experienced students, collaboration with each other and multiple departments to plan events, solve problems, and support the new students of BYU-I. Each Coordinator is over a certain number of mentors that they then train prior to orientation and lead through the semester. As a department group, Each coordinator is over a certain team responsibility such as managing social media pages, creating training modules, recruitment efforts, and more. Our program was of great importance to the school and included verbal and Email communication, authorization, and staff meetings with our Department lead, School Faculty, School Presidency, etc.
  • I was a volunteer mentor for 3 semesters (1 year), coordinator for 2, and then the student director for 1. It has been one of my favorite parts of attending college. It has been a great way to support the campus community, make lasting friendships and connections, being a leader and influencing the people around you, as well as helping me to improve myself by communicating in a way that is confident, concise, and professional.

Accomplishments

Outside of College and High School, I have previously interned for a chiropractic office. During my senior year of high school, I interned for 6 months at Porter Family Chiropractic for Dr. Kip Porter. I worked at the front desk answering phone calls, setting up appointments, and checking people in for their appointments. I also would observe adjustments with Dr. Porter and perform electric muscle stimulation on patients.
