Summary

Seeking full time gainful employment following honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) in August 2022 as a sergeant. I am available to work all days, shifts, hours, and holidays.

I am a thirty-one-year-old father of two daughters with a long-term loving relationship with their mother. Together we enjoy all the challenges and pleasures of a growing young family. In August 2022, after having successfully fulfilled a four-year military contract, I was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. after serving active duty stationed out of Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C., functioning in the capacity of an USMC Body Bearer. While assigned to this duty, I performed over 700 military funerals, mostly out of Arlington National Cemetery. Prior to enlisting in the Marine Corps in 2018, I graduated from San Diego State University (SDSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering in 2016. While at SDSU I played five years of division II ice hockey for the university. Through the American Military University, urrently completing a Master of Science degree in Emergency/Disaster Management, and am scheduled to graduate in June 2024. Followed by advancement into a Doctoral program. I currently hold a 4.0 GPA and am a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success as well as The Order of the Sword & Shield, both of which are academic honor societies specific for the emergency management field. Short-term goals are to find full time employment in either of the two fields I am passionate about: engineering and/or emergency disaster management. ILong-term goals are to complete a Doctoral program in Organizational Development and Leadership. In addition, I intend to use my education, military experience, and ambition to provide excellent service to the organization in which I am employed. Social and religious goals: Continue playing on a competitive ice hockey league and continue improving the skills gained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. These two sports provide an environment to relax while enjoying family and friends. Finally, I would like to take advantage of volunteering opportunities at the local Catholic church as an usher or Eucharistic Minister.

Skills

  • In going through the SDSU engineering curriculum, I developed critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills that have proven to be helpful, not only from an academic standpoint, but also from a social and personal perspective The Marine Corps has taught me to work effectively within a team environment to achieve a common goal and to push through challenging assignments until success is achieved Five years of Collegiate ice hockey has done much of the same for me but in an athletic competitive setting In these two environments, I have learned that diversity and working within a team environment offers a great advantage of understanding other perspectives, beliefs, and cultures As a father, college student/athlete, and a former Marine, I have learned the importance of managing my time to achieve desired objectives I am proficient in Word, Excel, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Engineering software packages and possess effective communication skills I am always open to new challenges, experiences, and greater responsibilities While at SDSU, alongside my engineering coursework, I concurrently attended Miramar Junior College and completed the EMT course that prepared me to take the National Registry EMT exam I went on to pass this exam and ultimately obtained my EMT Certification I also possess a valid “personal trainer” certificate through the International Sports and Sciences Association (ISSA), which was sponsored by the Marine Corps I have used this knowledge, alongside being in the gym weightlifting for 15 years, to prepare myself physically for the many challenging goals I have set for myself
