My name is Mohamad Abdelgader, I grew up in a small village in Sudan with my large family. They instilled in me great values of kindness and helping others, so after all these great values, it was only logical for me to pursue a career in medicine. And I was so lucky to get a scholarship to join the University of Khartoum, one of the top-ranked universities in Africa and the Middle East.During medical school, I took the lead in many initiatives aimed at helping underprivileged populations. Also, I have a great passion for teaching and mentoring, so after graduation, I joined the biochemistry department at my university as a teaching assistant.Recently, I finished my internship in Aswan Teaching Hospital in Egypt which is a large teaching hospital with the huge caseload of patients .Beside medicine, I love and enjoy playing and watching soccer with my friends, and I also enjoy playing chess in my free time.In summary, I am social, open-minded, and live a simple life, and I am passionate about helping people.
- worked as a tutor during my undergraduate years, teaching basic science subjects tojunior students.Had a large number of students, with around 500 medical students from20 different medical schools in Sudan attending my sessions.- The students I taught came from diverse nationalities and backgrounds.- Teaching the basic science subjects helped me earn money while I was workingtowards my goal of studying in the US.- This experience also played a role in preparing me for the USMLE exams.
During my second year of college, I started an initiative to distribute school books to
disadvantaged students on the outskirts of Khartoum.
- With the help of community members and the Ministry of Finance, I covered the
needs of 540 students.
- The initiative aimed to provide educational resources to students who couldn't afford
them.
- I collaborated with local organizations and government agencies to collect and
distribute the books.
- The initiative received support and funding from the community and the Ministry of
Finance.
- Through this project, we were able to make a positive impact on the education of
underprivileged students.
