I have started business in Somalia probably at age 12 in 1982. My father was the largest coffee importer from Kenya to Somalia and at that very young age I used to take orders for my father and at age 17 I was the Operational Manager for all my father businesses. When the Civil war started I ended up in Kenya and officially started my own food business at age 21 without the involvement of my father. I finally Immigrated to the US in 1998 and started my courier in Amway Grand Plaza hotel in the Food and Beverage division in Grand Rapids, MI and for the first time I saw how business is really done in US on 4 Star and 5 Diamond Hotel level, in 2008 I become Best Food and Beverage employee of the State Michigan.

I moved to MN 2012 looking to create a business of my own that captures all the needs for the East and West African communities and the more I studied greater the needs were and that's how Ilham Trading came in to existence. It took me many many years to bring every small piece of the puzzle together. We're the only African Food wholesaler who's able to sell Dry, Cooked or Baked foods plus frozen items since we have 2 Freezer equally to 1600 Sqf. I'm CFM ( Certified Food Manager) in the State of MN I am also FDA HACCP Certified in terms of being able to sell Meat, Poultry and Fish.

I buy a lot produce from MN Farmers Market every year process and Freeze them for Winter sale.
