Summary

Mental Health is definitely a big passion of mine and so is making people feel nurtured and cared for. So I feel that it is only natural that I have gravitated towards investing my time and energy in things that combine both of these passions of mine such as helping co-facilitate mental health support groups and helping my mother manage the children at her daycare and overall ensuring that they are in an environment where they are thriving and feel safe and are growing. I also believe that I am highly emotionally intelligent, have excellent problem solving skills as well as communication/people skills, and that I am a great listener who can offer excellent feedback and support.

Work History

Support Group Co- Facilitator

Association of Individual Development
04.2022 - Current

In this role I help a licensed mental health therapist who is also a support group leader, co-facilitate certain mental health groups that he leads, such as "coping with depression" and "coping with anxiety". I offer him helpful and creative suggestions to incorporate into the groups as well as help plan group activities. For example I came up with the idea that at the beginning of certain support groups, we have something called a "popcorn session", which is basically where we go around the room and give each group member the space to talk for a few moments about how they are doing presently, how their week or day has gone so far, anything new in their life, or anything they wish to comment on or bring to the table in general. They know when they have their time to speak, the floor is theirs and their time will be respected and honored. It is called a "popcorn session" because similar to popcorn popping in a microwave, group members are able to "go back and forth" and support one another and resonate with one another as well as bounce suggestions, comments, and ideas, off each other's experiences and stories.
