Work History
Collaborator
The Junior Academy, New York Academy of Sciences
09.2022 - Current
Through the Junior Academy, I collaborated with peers worldwide on sustainability projects, including wind energy remediation, eco-friendly healthcare wearables, and sustainable textiles for daily use.
These initiatives, such as 'Textile Nations,' 'Remediation in South Brooklyn,' and 'TechnoW,' aimed to combat climate change and improve everyday environmental practices.
Competing globally against over 270 teams each year, I focused on innovative solutions and practical applications in healthcare and sustainability.
Volunteer Educator
Goddard Early Childhood Community Service
09.2022 - Current
I worked to improve the educational experience for a class of 25 underrepresented, low-income children.
I developed tailored curricula and designed interactive activities to keep them engaged.
Beyond academics, I fostered a supportive and enjoyable learning environment, helping to build their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
AI Research Intern
Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP)
06.2023 - 10.2024
At the American Museum of Natural History, under the mentorship of a PhD specialist, I co-developed an AI model for species detection.
The AI model reached 94% accuracy. (Soon to be published)
I developed my python skills in this internship.
The project focused on identifying animal presence and irregularities in bird migration patterns.
Over a year and a half, I collaborated with three team members to create a tool that significantly advanced conservation efforts.
We presented our findings to an audience of over 1,900 at one of NYC's largest consortiums, where I was honored as the top-ranked speaker.
This research provides a novel approach to detecting and mitigating the effects of climate change on various species.
Along the way, I honed my communication skills and am eagerly anticipating the publication of our work in the coming months!
Research Intern
Columbia Engineering Research Program (SHAPE)
07.2024 - 08.2024
I conducted research on sustainable bio-concrete solutions under the guidance of a PhD mentor.
Throughout the program, I explored the historical development of bio-concrete and worked with a team in a lab to engineer environmentally friendly alternatives.
Our goal was to address the negative environmental impacts of traditional concrete while maximizing its potential benefits.
At the conclusion of the program, my team and I presented a literature review to an audience of over 150 people.
This experience honed my skills in communication and innovation, providing valuable insights into the daily work of engineers and the key competencies needed for success, particularly the importance of effective collaboration.
Research Intern
NYU Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)
09.2021 - 08.2023
Company Overview: New York University
At NYU, I expanded my knowledge of STEM through hands-on research.
I investigated NYC animal demographics over the past 20 years, analyzing how urban wildlife populations have changed and their impact on conservation efforts.
This experience not only enhanced my research skills but also improved my ability to communicate complex findings, which I presented to an audience of over 125 people.
